Part 1: If Europe Can Ban Gel Polish, What About Our Little Ones’ Scalps?

Recently, Europe banned a common gel polish chemical after evidence showed it wasn’t as safe as once thought. It made me pause and wonder—how many things are sitting on our shelves labelled “safe,” but never tested for what happens long term?

Children’s scalps are delicate. Their bodies are still developing, and they process chemicals differently than adults. Yet, synthetic and human braiding hair products were never designed with children under 10 in mind.

This is not about shaming busy parents (because life is life). It’s about remembering that love sometimes looks like slowing down. If entire countries can say “let’s ban this chemical until we understand it better,” then maybe we can say, “let’s hold off on extensions until we’re sure they’re safe for little scalps.” 💕

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll peek behind the label and talk about the chemicals in braiding hair in simple, everyday language.
