Why Your Location, Lifestyle & Hair Health Change Everything

Ever wondered why your friend’s “holy grail” product gave you limp, greasy strands — or why your go-to suddenly stopped working? It’s because hair isn’t just about hair type. It’s about health, habits, and even your postcode.

Weather & Climate – The Hidden Hair Stylist
  • Sunlight can lighten and weaken hair over time.

  • Sea air is gorgeous for the soul, but its salt can dry your strands.

  • Heating & air con can pull moisture out of your hair faster than you can say “leave-in conditioner.”

Healthy vs Healing Hair

Fine, medium, and coarse hair all look and feel different when they’re healthy compared to when they’re damaged.

  • Healthy hair needs maintenance.

  • Healing hair needs targeted care to repair or protect from further damage.

Internal & External Factors

Unhealthy hair is often a combo:

  • Internal: health issues, stress, age, diet, hormones.

  • External: styling habits, chemical treatments, climate, and heat tools like straighteners or blow dryers.

This is why I’ve made it my mission to really understand these factors for afro and mixed-race hair — so we can stop handing over trillions to companies that don’t care about our needs and, worse, load our products with preservatives and endocrine disruptors that can cause health problems like uterine challenges. Our ancestors had thriving, luscious curls without that chemical soup — and so can we.

The key is knowledge, not marketing.
